Mr. Hurst has over 25 years of experience in the mining/resource industries having acted as geologist, consultant, mining analyst, and senior executive. He was a founding executive of International Royalty Corporation and then a Director of the company until 2010 when it was purchased by Royal Gold, Inc. for $700 million. Recently, Mr. Hurst was one of the founders and executives of Newmarket Gold Inc. which was purchased for $1.0 billion by Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. In 2016.
Mr. Hurst holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from McMaster University.
Michael G. Allen
President, CEO & Director
Mr. Allen is a professional geologist with 20 years of experience in the mining industry. He has extensive experience in project evaluation, recently reviewing in excess of 400 gold projects worldwide. This effort lead Mike to identify and negotiate the purchase of the Sterling Gold Project.
Mike has a strong technical background having explored for gold in Nevada, Arctic, British Columbia and Ontario. He has worked in both open pit and underground mines, as well as managing the construction of new mines and exploration crews.
For the last several years Mike has spent his time in Nevada where he was part of a team that advanced a gold project through permitting and a positive pre-feasibility study. Mr. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Alberta.
Mr. Robins is a professional geologist with over 30 years of experience as an independent exploration geologist and entrepreneur. Most recently John was the founder and Chairman of Kaminak Gold which was purchased for $520 million by Goldcorp Inc. in 2016.
A 1984 graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, Mr. Robins initially worked as a self-employed prospector and geologist in British Columbia and Northern Canada. In 1988, he founded Hunter Exploration Group, one of Canada's most successful private exploration companies.
In 2008, Mr. Robins was recognized for his achievements in mining exploration by the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia with the H.H. "Spud" Huestis Award. This is recognized as the highest awards given for mineral exploration.
Mr. Robins has also been active in starting several successful public exploration and development companies culminating in 2005 with his co-founding of the Discovery Group of Companies.
Mr. Robins also sits on the Board of several successful publicly traded exploration companies.
Mr. Threlkeld is a seasoned mining professional with more than 32 years of experience in mineral exploration, mine operations and construction and executive management. Most recently Mr. Threlkeld was chairman of Newmarket Gold which was purchased by Kirkland Lake Gold for approximately $1-billion. From 2006 to 2009 Mr. Threlkeld led the team that acquired, developed and put into operation the Mesquite gold mine in California with Western Goldfields subsequently being purchased by New Gold for $314-million in 2009. Mr. Threlkeld holds a BSc degree in geology from the University of Nevada.
Adrian Fleming is an Australian geologist with over 30 years of global diversified experience in the mining industry, including exploration, project development, and operations. Mr. Fleming was most recently the President and Director of Underworld Resources Inc. which was acquired by Kinross Gold Corporation in 2010.
Mr. Fleming has held a number of senior positions, including Exploration Manager for Placer Dome, President of Giant Yellowknife Mines, and Vice President of Exploration for Golden Star. Mr. Fleming presently serves as an officer and director of several other publicly listed companies.
His successes also include involvement with teams that discovered, advanced, and developed gold mines, such as Porgera in Papua New Guinea, Big Bell in Australia, Gross Rosebel in Suriname, and the new discoveries at Partook and Suluk in Nunavut.
Jim is currently the CEO of Kivalliq Energy Corporation and was a driving force behind more than $60 million in equity financings, one of the largest uranium exploration programs on the globe, and a 200% increase in mineral resources at the Lac 50 deposit.
Jim has 20 years of corporate finance, acquisition, joint-venture, spin-out, RTO and IPO experience. Mr. Paterson founded, was President & CEO, and Director of Corsa Capital Ltd., a company which acquired and capitalized coal mining assets in the United States.
In addition to Northern Empire and Kivalliq Energy Corporation, Jim serves as a director Bluestone Resources Inc.
Mr. Cardey has served as an officer and/or director of several publicly traded companies, and is the principal of Cardey Management Corp., a private British Columbia venture capital firm. Mr. Cardey was a founder and Director of Underworld Resources Inc. which was acquired by Kinross Gold Corporation in 2010.
Mr. Cardey obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia.
Jeff Sundar has eighteen years of experience in the capital markets and mineral exploration sector. Mr. Sundar is President and Director of Genesis Metals, a gold exploration company focused on assets in Quebec. He was a Director and VP of Underworld Resources which discovered the 1.6 million oz White Gold deposit in west-central Yukon, and was subsequently acquired by Kinross Gold for $138 million in June 2010.
